Placing BC pipes with Turtles

I'm trying to use turtle.place() to place a BuildCraft obsidian pipe, in order to place items in an inventory (I'm using CC v 1.33), however, I cannot seem to place the pipes.

I'm simply using turtle.place()

That's an incredibly old version, have you considered updating? I don't believe that version of CC worked with placing BuildCraft pipes, some problem on BC's end.
