Help with a simple mag-reader program

Basically just want to program a false redstone signal to trigger when a written mag-card is read. I get the redstone basics but its more of the mag-card reader and event script I don't seem to get… Any help would be appreciated!

I guess run through this tutorial first, see what sort of functions the "reader" makes available to you.
