A little tutorial I found from google: http://luatut.com/dofile.html

Essentially you pass it a path and it will run the file found at that path.

Although I am in no official capacity to state this, for future questions, please don't erase them just because they're answered. Others will surely wonder the same thing in the future, and you're not making it easier for them.

Along with the old habit of people saying in support forums that they "fixed the problem" but never saying how.

I've had the same feeling, one that is worse is when you ask for help, and the people who answer posts something like "I have the same problem!".
But yeah.. It's bad for other users who may stumble upon the same problem if you erase the question etc.
