Computer input freezes randomly

Minecraft Version: 1.7.10 and 1.8.9
ComputerCraft Version: Latest available for both platforms
Type of World: Singleplayer
Mods Installed (1.7.10): ComputerCraft, ProjectRed (all addons)
Mods Installed (1.8.9): ComputerCraft, ComputerCraftEdu
Bug Description: When I'm working on something in CC, the computers randomly stop accepting input and lock up.
I have no choice but to break and replace them or exit and reenter the world, thus losing all my progress.
Can someone please help me?

It sounds like you've got a bad installation of CC or some sort of CC virus. I know of one way to produce the behavior you describe, and it has to do with a certain piece of lua code.

Actually I just remembered I had CCEdu installed in 1.8.9

EDIT: that didn't work

While I'm editing something or in general doing anything, the computers freeze up at random.

I'll try running CC through the vanilla Minecraft launcher (I was using MultiMC) see if that fixes it
