Sandboxing is a security measure to prevent unintended behaviour infect the rest of the system. The computer program is executed in an private environment (a sandbox). In case of an emergency the sandbox is destroyed and a new one is created. Because the sandbox is virtual, these staps are easy and fast.

The computer in computercraft is a kind of sandbox, it can not harm the outside world.

Although somewhat true, the computers only can't harm the system the server is running on. Nothing stops them from calling SQL injected URLs.
