I'm pretty curious as well, not trolling. If you don't want to get bothered by people though, you could send me a private message with the reason (although I don't actually know if that's possible in this forum)

Sure then. Here's the full explanation that will be flamed:
I come from them Alpha days and the newer updates have moved away from the game that was called "Minecraft." The game has become more RPG, instead of a creative/survival game. There's also been other changes that aren't RPG, but just not really like what the game should be. It all started when Beta 1.8 came out when hunger was added, endermen, XP, swamps, and critical hits, etc. Beta 1.8 is what I always call "The Death Update" because I believe that update marked the date of Minecraft's death. Ever since Beta 1.8, lots more horrible things were added like The End, potions, and new wooden planks, etc.. But then.. 1.3.. there was too much stupid in that update for me to handle. The LAN connection thing was probably 40% of the reason I didn't update. Currently, 1.4 is just about as bad as 1.3 since they pretty much changed the name of the game to Witchcraft and they added stupid zombie villagers and mini zombies and repairing items. Yep, that's my story, now let's start an argument!
Btw, if you were never around in alpha, you have no right to argue with me. If you have, you have some.

I see. To me, that is a rather odd opinion, but, like any person, you are entitled to hold any opinion you wish.
Especially since your opinion in no way causes problems for other people, there is no reason that I might get angry at you for holding such an opinion.
As long as you can understand that I do not share your opinion.
I believe that it is of significance to note the meaning of the name of minecraft.
More specifically, minecraft beta vs minecraft.
In the literal meaning of the word, minecraft 1.0.0 is when minecraft was officially released as a game.
That means that it is the moment that minecraft reached a state where the developers regarded it to be a complete game.
so, both your opinion and mine set aside, it means that minecraft 1.0.0 is what the developers wanted minecraft to be.
My opinion on the matter is such: while I do agree that most of the newer updates have been trivial and ridiculous (enchanting and potionmaking being the foremost problems)
Many people, myself included, prefer to play minecraft in survival mode because it, at times, presents a challenge. While it is easy enough to avoid monsters and lava, there are still always risks and dangers inherent within the game mode.
Hunger is another interesting difficulty, that a person needs to keep track of.
I haven't yet had a look at 1.4, but most of update 1.3 was interesting, and can in some situations be valuable. At times I have tinkered with the minecolony and Millenaire mods, adding effective villagers and such to minecraft. This appears to be a feature many people enjoy, and are interested in. While I don't particularly care for the emerald system with the villagers, it is a step in a direction that I do like, and thus, I don't mind it.
On the other hand, tripwires is a feature that I do like, and I believe that they were implemented in quite an effective way.
Of note is the fact that I have never played minecraft alpha, noteworthy only because it matters to you.
I believe myself to have responded in reasonable and levelheaded manner, and would implore that, should you provide an answer regarding this post, you do so in a similar manner.

Wow, you're the first person not to flame that didn't agree with me!! I give you a diamond.
A lot of people that played in alpha dislike the new stuff. You have to be one to understand. One thing I've noticed, if I downgrade to alpha, it's really not fun anymore. It's very sad and I wish I could have that fun again, but in order to do that, I'd have to forget all the new stuff that I do like.Of note is the fact that I have never played minecraft alpha, noteworthy only because it matters to you.

Oh god don't start this crap again. Topic closed. Enjoy being left behind while everyone else has awesome new features. You must be the strangest person I've ever met who actually hates new features that don't take away from the game, only add.
Ps: is the beta testing forum really that hard to find?
