GPS Host Computer Placement

Sorry if this has been answered. The forum wouldn't let me search for "gps". It says the word is too short.

I'm having a little trouble with GPS host computer placement. I currently use a cube configuration with 4 host computers. 2 are low and lined up N-S, and 2 are high lined up E-W. I usually use a cube about 10 units on a side.

The problem come when a position I'm locating is lined up with 2 of the hosts (either NS or EW). It says it's an ambiguous position. This is fairly rare but still annoying.

Has anyone got a really reliable gps host placement strategy that doesn't produce ambiguous locations?

Thanks,
Sketchy

I believe I remember seeing one in tutorials a week or so back (sorry can't give direct link, on my phone)

Just a couple down on the tutorial list.

Yes, the one I'm using is a variation on that. I thought it might be better to put the host computers farther apart to provide better accuracy on locations much further away. The only difference is that the height I'm using is the same as the horizontal distance. I wonder if that's causing my problem. I'll have to see if I can reproduce the ambiguous position problem on the exact configuration in the link you provided.

I put mine 10 blocks from the center on all the arms, but I don't think it really matters above 3. As long as 2 of the computers have the same X and Y coordinates and the other 2 have the same Z and Y coordinates you should be good.

I don't think that it matters that the hieght is the same as one of your other coordinates, it should store them as seperate variables anyway.
