Gps api troubles

I have set up 5 computers with wireless modem on all of them i have 4 of them about 15 blocks apart in a square and 1 about 15 blocks up in the center i have enter gps host and the <x><y><z> and they all have opened the wireless modem but when i go to my computer or turtle it say unable to locate when i do gps locate

What am i missing?

Make sure the computer/turtle are in range of the satellite.

Yeah they are about 20 blocks away. i checked the server ccproperties and the range is set to 30,000 blocks in clear weather and 15,000 in rain

have you turned on the modem for the computer/turtle in question?

Yeah the "gps locate" from the gps api automatically turns it on

the GPS API does not turn it on auto… the GPS program does… I've forgotten this fact several times too…

when you type gps locate the modem on the side turns red which means its active right?

yes red band around the modem means its active.

if you type into the terminal "gps locate" the modem is turned on, that is because the program "gps" is designed so that if a modem isn't open it will be turned on.

when programming if you use the gps.locate function you must first open the modem. If you don't the API will just return "Unable to locate".
